Public Consultation Materials for Lam Tin Interchange

Lam Tin Interchange

The proposed Lam Tin Interchange would be located between the Eastern Harbour Crossing (EHC) and the restored Sai Tso Wan Landfill.  Upon completion, the Lam Tin Interchange will be a major connection of TKO-LT Tunnel and other adjoining roads (including EHC, the future Trunk Road T2 and the current road network in Kwun Tong).  The Lam Tin Interchange will also divert the traffic in the Kwun Tong district and thereby relieve the existing heavy trafficked road network in the district.

Layout Plan of Lam Tin Interchange

With reference to the site constraints, public views and the four different alignment options of Cha Kwo Ling Section, we proposed two options for Lam Tin Interchange, namely Above-ground Option and Below-ground Option.  The Above-ground Option comprised of viaducts constructed above the existing ground level adjacent to the EHC Toll plaza.  While for the Below-ground Option, the Lam Tin Interchange will be constructed at about 20m below the existing ground level.  The photos below show the proposed Lam Tin Interchange.

  • More gentle road gradients
Cons
  • Higher visual impact, noise and air pollution
  • Traffic diversion is required on Lei Yue Mun Road during construction
  • Steep road gradient
